Tori and her squad made it into the sewers where they would return to Sector Four and regroup as their mission was a success. Even if the Vulture AI did interrupt their broadcast, they knew the damage had been done and people would begin to slowly flock to their cause. It was only a matter of time.
Tori led the three down the tunnel out of Sector One with her Socom pistol raised waiting to see if any lizard mutations would make an appearance during their travels through the sewers. She wished they could have traveled by other means, as the smell and the filth of the sewers were hard to bear, but she toughened up and dealt with it.
"Is everyone okay?"

Kragen followed Tori through the tunnels with his HK pistol in hand. At the question he merely looked over his own body and then Garrus to determine the answer. They were both fine by the look of it, but Kragen wouldn't speak for Garrus. He would only speak for himself.
"Affirmative."
Kragen kept his eyes and ears open for any mutations that may strike. It was truly disgusting what the Vulture did here. Making monsters out of animals and then throwing them away into the sewers because they didn't want to deal with their own failures. Pitiful.

Garrus made up the rear with his pistol in hand. His pistol was different from the others. Heavier in size and more high tech. It was made by his race on his home world and packed more of a punch than the average handgun in Jherra. He was thankful that their Commander considered their well-being on mission assignments. It was a good quality for a leader to have. Compassion. Garrus Vakarian "I'm all right. That distraction by the helicopter exploding in the street should have covered our tracks, so no Vulture soldiers should follow us down here." That way all they had to worry about were the mutants.

Tori was glad to hear that her comrades were okay. It wasn't the first time they got into a hard situation and it wouldn't be the last. As a rebellion promised more conflict and tough situations to handle. She was confident that she and her squad could handle anything that the Vulture could throw their way.
"I think so, too. They'll be too busy with cleanup to look for our whereabouts right away. It should give us enough time to get back to Sector Four."
Of course, Tori knew it was only a matter of time before the Vulture figured out they were using the sewers. Then they would have to get more creative. Tori led the three of them down another tunnel now crossing the threshold into Sector Two.

Kragen expected the same. The soldiers never got into the room by the time they got out with the grappling hook, and there were no soldiers on the ground to see them enter the sewers. Maybe a satellite caught them, but it would take time for those pictures to come in. By then they'd be safely back at Sector Four. Kragen followed Tori down the sewers tunnels and were mostly quiet. And that was when he realized something was wrong.
"It's quiet."
Too quiet. Normally by now lizards would be making their way to their position to try to kill them. Except there was nothing moving. Nothing moving at all.

Garrus Vakarian "I can't wait for a nice bath and something good to eat." Steak or chicken sounded good right now. With some fruit punch or soda. Garrus enjoyed the Jenesis world's drinks and food. It was quite different from his own world's food and drinks. Garrus stopped when he noticed Kragen was unsure of his surroundings, which never led to anything good. Garrus Vakarian "What is it? What's wrong?"

"Yeah, a bath sounds real good right about now."
Tori turned when she heard Kragen's statement, and she felt it too. Something was wrong about their surroundings. Reaching into her jacket's pocket, she pulled out a stun grenade and tossed it without pulling the pin. The grenade dropped on the ground in front of them and suddenly it exploded.
"Booby traps."
That explosion was all it took to hear the mutated lizarda screeching in the distance. Their shadows bouncing off the walls as they fast approached the scene.
And they came flooding the area Tori and her squad were standing in.
"Watch your backs!"
Tori raised her Socom pistol and open fire at the chest and head areas of the mutated lizards coming their way.

The answer came in the form of a bang. Someone had set a trap to keep the lizards at bay, but who? Now that the trap had been released there was nothing stopping the hoard of lizards sweeping in to surround them. Kragen moved to face the backs of his squad mates as he fired at the lizards with his HK pistol. Knowing that these forms of mutated lizards had a hard outer shell, he opted to trade the HK pistol for the HKG3 assault rifle and fire at their heads.

Garrus Vakarian "Traps? Someone else has been down here." Before they could even begin to think about who set the traps, a swarm of mutated lizards came flooding the area. Garrus joined the backs of the others and fired with his heavy pistol. Taking out a couple but more made up the lost rather easily. Garrus knew they couldn't be boxed in like this. Surrounded with no where to go. They had to move. Garrus Vakarian "We need to keep moving!"

"Clear a path through the sewers! Only worry about the ones in your way!"
Tori followed Kragen's lead and switched out her pistol for the assault rifle and open fire at the sea of mutated lizards that were in front of them. Punching a hole through the hoard and leading Kragen and Garrus through it. They were still a far way from Sector Four, and more lizards were closing the distance in front of them.
"Help me clear a path!"

Kragen was tempted to throw a grenade at the problem, but they were too close to the lizards and the blast could take them with it. Then he remembered the stun grenade that Tori had dropped on the floor before it was taken out by the booby trap. Kragen reached into his gear and pulled out his own stun grenade and dropped the pin to the floor and tossed it on the ground.
"Brace yourselves!"
The stun grenade went off creating a blinding bright light that blinded the lizards around them. Kragen knew that was their chance to get out of the lizards' reach.
"Move!"

Garrus saw the grenade Kragen tossed and had he not known the differences between a stun grenade and a regular grenade he would've panicked. But he had an idea what Kragen was planning. The light generated by the stun grenade would be enough to blind them, if not knock them out entirely. Giving them all the time they needed to flee the scene and continue to Sector Four. Garrus picked up speed and kept close to his squad. His weapon still raised in case more of those lizards showed up.

"What are you doing!? You could blow us all up with that!"
When the grenade went off she realized it was a stun grenade instead of a regular one and felt stupid.
"Clever."
Tori resume running out of the reach of the mutated lizards and entered into a larger room with running water all around them. Looking back at Kragen and Garrus as she dusted herself off.
"Are you guys all right?"
That was the second time she had to ask that question. And as she did another hiss came from above. When she turned around she saw none other than...
A different breed of mutated lizards climbing the walls all around them. These weren't as hard to kill as the others, but they were much faster and lunged farther.
"I don't suppose you have any more of those stun grenades?"

"Wrong kind."
Tori made that realization soon after and Kragen would've chuckled at her brain fart had he been anyone else, but chuckling and laughing weren't exactly things Kragen was known for. He followed Tori into the large room and checked his equipment before looking back at Tori.
"I'm fine."
That moment was short lived when he saw the lizards climbing the walls all around them. Stalking them. Waiting for their chance to strike. At Tori's question he could only shake his head.
"Negative."

Garrus Vakarian "I'm all right, but I'm wondering who the hell left that booby trap back there." Once again they wouldn't have time to discuss the matter as more lizards came to surround them. He recognized these ones as the ones that weren't hard to kill through strength and endurance, but by speed and agility. He switched to his assault rifle and looked at the others. Garrus Vakarian "Looks like we'll have to fight our way through them." He was ready.
