Ayen finally came to to see a strange green and black structure with mysterious blue runes on the walls of the structure. Ayen was dressed in a blue hoodie with game controllers on the front of it, a blue undershirt, and black jeans with black shoes. He got up to a knee and then to his feet and looked around until he saw Naomi laying down on the floor a few feet away from where he was standing.
"Naomi!"
Ayen rushed over to his best friend's side and shook her lightly to wake her up.
"Naomi, wake up! Naomi!"
He hoped she was okay. He didn't know what he'd do if she wasn't. There was no telling how far away they were from the nearest hospital and healing wasn't one of his gifts. Naomi just had to wake up.
"Naomi!"

Ayen would be relieved to see that Naomi was still breathing. She moved slightly at Ayen's shaking and turned around with her eyes still shut.
"Five more minutes, Mom."
Naomi would've snored in another scenario, but the constant screaming of Ayen finally woke her up and she realized they had just been hit by a strange white light before waking up in a strange location with runes and God only knows what else. Naomi looked up to Ayen and began to relax upon seeing her best friend was all right.
"Oh, hi. Did I snore?"
Naomi stood up and looked around at the structure they were now inside of. Not just at the runes, but at what looked like transporters on the other side of the room. Where the hell were they?
"What is this place?"

Ayen stood up next to Naomi. Just glad that the woman was okay. He looked around the structure, but couldn't make heads or tails of it. The runes looked strange, and it almost felt as those the structure was alive. They didn't know how high up they were, or how low, or even where they were.
"I don't know. This was just where we were at when I came to."
Ayen went over to the transporters and wondered what they were for. He has only ever seen transporters in SciFi movies. Never in real life. Were they even on Earth anymore?
"I don't think we're in Kansas anymore, Naomi."
As cliche as it was to say, he felt as those it was the truth. He didn't even think they were on Earth anymore. Let alone Kansas.

Naomi snorted at the cliché.
"You just couldn't resist the urge to say it, could you?"
Naomi walked in the opposite direction of Ayen and placed a hand on one of the glowing runes on the wall. It felt like listening to a pulse and it was strange how alive it felt. It reminded her of a SciFi show where the ship was alive, but was the building they were in really alive, or did it just seem that way? There was one way to find out.
"Can't you do a psychic link with the structure to find out what it is?"
What good was having a psychic around if he couldn't use his powers to learn more about what kind of structure they were in? It may even hold the answers to where they were now and how to get back to where they came from.

"I usually get a headache when I do that."
It wasn't something he liked to do, but it looked like he had no choice. As they had no other way to tell what this structure was without exploring it further. Ayen laid a hand on one of the walls and attempted to link his mind to the structure.
He suddenly saw flashes of people being frozen over, of portals leading to other worlds and other Earths. Of people screaming and fighting over the structure. It was a large tower that stretched up to the heavens and possessed great power. Ayen pulled his hand off the wall and fell to a knee trying to catch his breath. That was more than he expected. Whatever this tower was, it was a structure of great power with a lot of history.
Just where the hell were they?

"AYEN!"
Naomi ran over to her friend's side and held onto his arms as she helped him back up to his feet. Apparently linking to the structure was more than he could handle, and she felt guilty for even coming up with the idea in the first place. What was she thinking? Of course it would strain his mind. There was only so much the mind could take and they didn't even know where they were.
"Are you okay? I'm so sorry!"

"I'm okay."
Ayen was helped back up to his feet and stood there for a couple of seconds trying to recollect his thoughts and make sense out of what he just saw. It never got easier being a telepath.
"We're in a tower. Some kind of inter-dimensional gateway to other worlds. I also saw a land being frozen over in crystal ice. Wherever we are it isn't Earth, and this structure is very old. We need to find someone who can give us answers."
It was a tower that transported people to and from other worlds. So that would explained how they got here. But why were they brought here? And who was in charge of this tower?
The more answers they got, the more questions that cropped up.

Naomi listened as Ayen explained what he just saw. They definitely weren't in Kansas anymore. She made sure he was okay before letting go of him and looking around the room once again.
"Someone has actually achieved inter-dimensional travel?"
Naomi would've been impressed if she wasn't worried with where they were at. Naomi walked over to the nearest door and opened it. Coming upon a flight of steps that stretched across the walls of the tower all the way to the ceiling that couldn't be seen. They were on the second floor with the first floor being a circular room with more runes placed on the walls.
"Should we go up or down?"

"Down. It could take us forever to explore the rooms above us."
Ayen descended the staircase down to the circular room and then pushed open the double oak doors of the tower and went outside to find a crystallized frozen wasteland that went on for miles. It was freezing cold and beneath his feet was a city frozen in the crystal ice. This had to be the city that he saw in his vision when he linked with the tower. The city that created the tower. The city that defied the will of God.
"Now I know we're not in Kansas."

Naomi felt the freezing cold air coming from outside and immediately pulled Ayen back inside the tower where there was still enough heat to keep them warm despite being in a frozen wasteland.
"We can't go out there it's freezing!"
Just their luck. They had to be stranded in the middle of nowhere, and that middle of nowhere had to be in below zero temperatures. Neither one of them were dressed for the winter as it was summer time where they came from, so they didn't have need for a jacket where they were before.
"We need to find something that can keep us warm if we want to get out of here."

"You really think we're going to find a coat or two just laying around a place like this?"
Ayen found that unlikely. They may just have to tough it up and brace the cold weather to get anywhere in this new world to find the answers they were both searching for. Like how they got here, and where exactly 'here' was.
"I can fly us out of here. It should be faster so the cold won't be too much of a problem."
He thought that was a fair soulution. It was faster to fly than to walk it and not know which direction to go. Granted, even when flying they still didn't know what direction to take. All they could do was pick a direction and see it through to the end.

"I'm not freezing my ass off without at least trying to find something to shield us from the cold."
Naomi looked around the circular room. They certainly weren't going to find anything warm here, so she ascended the staircase to the third floor and opened the door. Inside was a room with more transporters. She walked along the transporters looking at each one. She momentarily forgot her goal of finding a coat and tried to see if she could get any of the transporters to work.
"Maybe if we get one of these working we can go back home and not need to wander out in the cold."
Naomi could only hope.

Ayen sighed. Naomi could be a stubborn woman when she wanted to be. He followed her up to the third floor and looked at the transporters she was now trying to get working. He doubted either one of them were able to get the tower working, but who were working on them before they got here? There had to be someone around that could help them.
"We should look for somebody who know how to work the tower. I can't imagine a place like this would just be deserted. There has to be workers around here somewhere."
And if they were around would they prove to be friendly?
"We may want to keep our guard up in case they prove to be less than friendly."
Better safe than sorry.

"We would've ran into somebody by now if there were workers here. Did you see anyone working the tower when you linked up to it?"
Naomi was certain with all the noise they were making that somebody would've came searching for them if there were people in here, but so far nothing. It was strange that a tower of this magnitude would be left unintended, but stranger things have happened in life than just a structure like this being left alone.
"Come on! Help me try to work this thing."
Naomi messed around with the controls, but so far the transporters didn't make a sound. What did it take to get the tower working?

"I saw people being frozen over, but they weren't inside the tower. Something like this could employ a whole city back home, so it's weird that nobody is around."
To think about the idea of interdimensional travel was unusual for Ayen. Surely people would take interest in such a structure. Unless interdimensional travel was common in this world. In truth they didn't know anything about the world they were in, or the people in it. Or even if there were people.
"I think we need to traverse the frozen wasteland outside and try to find some intelligent life. Perhaps you're right. We won't find it in here. And I doubt we're going to get those transporters working with how old and advanced they are."
