"We're not. Aircano remains neutral in world's issues. At least until right now."
Drake was amused by the fact that the Aircano party wasn't being politely received by anyone except for maybe the witch. Even Alex was speaking ill against them. Clearly she had some kind of grudge against those of the faith. Drake would make sure she wasn't attacked for her harsh words. If Miracle was the kind of person to attack innocents, that is.
"Look like you're the least popular person in the area right now, my lady," he said with mock respect. "Go ahead and go, Thelisia, and Alex, where will you be headed? Melissa can take you back to Isafaro if you wish."

"Go? Oh, I am sorry Mr. White, but there seems to be a change of plans." Thelisia grinned as she pulled out her witch's hat and put it on, the lowered brim obscuring all but a sly smile. The book in her hands flew out from her fingertips as the pages that were once circling above the company fell down. Four pages now spun around Thelisia, as if primed for combat.
"You have given word to allow us to depart in peace, but I wonder what would happen were I to stay? It is not as if I am not interested in this tower and the secrets of the Kari. I am a scholar who seeks knowledge above all else after all. But furthermore," Thelisia looked Miracle dead in the eye,
"I do not side with a military nation such as Isafaro, but I cannot say in good faith that I will allow a nation that so easily brands innocents as heretics to brandish geopolitics so easily.
As such, I will be remaining here at the Crystal Expanse as my residency. And if your lord wishes to go back on their word and wage holy war, then I am afraid that I will have to show you the door."
The Witch of Literature was a pacifist by all means, but even one such as her couldn't just ignore an encounter so fruitful of knowledge as this. Besides, it was in her blood to be the thorn in the sides of those who deem themselves too important for the world around them. Especially theocracies such as Aircano.
