Liquid allowed Sunder to fall to his death and then looked to the fallen Vulture soldiers. In the seconds to pass, the fallen Vulture troops got back up, their skin decayed, and their cells reanimated, and they picked up their weapons and formed a line in front of Liquid. Firing at the lizards that were running down the tunnels to their location. Liquid only smiled as he knew the experiments of Isafaro's research and development department had paid off. Liquid Snake "Even in death we serve."

The Vulture soldiers who were still alive was in a state of shock when their fallen comrades got back up as zombies and open fire on the in-coming lizards.
"What the hell is going on?"
"This is fucked up!"
"What the fuck!?"
"Shut up! We have to fight off the lizards!"
Not knowing fully what was going on, they joined their fallen comrades in fighting off the lizards that were now headed directly towards them. Hoping they would get answers from Liquid when the coast was clear.

The army of lizards felt like a never ending sea of mutants that crawled all over the tunnels of the sewers on their way to the Crimson Vulture. Some fell to the bullets being pumped away by the soldiers' rifles as others withstood the bullets and got closer to the Vulture soldiers looking to slice through their flesh with their claws. They hiss and screech and roared at the soldiers while stepping on the bodies of the fallen Morlocks.

Those already fallen were sliced by the lizards, and then they began to mutate and become stronger. Fighting back to rip the lizards apart as Liquid raised his rifle and fired at any of the lizards that made it pass his men. It was only right for the Vulture to clean up their sewers after leaving it at the whim of the mutants for so long. If they wanted to close off all the passageways from the Resistance then this clean up was what they had to do.
Long live the Vulture.

The soldiers' shock increased when the fallen Vulture soldiers mutated into a beast and started ripping apart the lizards. They knew Isafaro did some questionable experiments, but they never thought it would lead to anything like this. Despite being shocked, they still managed to take the fight to the large quantity of lizards. Hell bent on staying alive and not becoming a brain dead soldier like their fallen comrades.
They would not serve in death.

Several of the lizards fell down to their deaths while more took their place. There were hundreds of them, if not thousands, and there were only so many bullets one could have before they ran out. The lizards continued to screech and hiss throughout the tunnels as they got closer to the Vulture troops. Being pushed back by the mutations now opposing them as more try to force their way through the Vulture soldiers dead or alive.

Liquid continued to fire from his rifle until he emptied the clip and then he quickly reloaded to resume firing from the rifle. The lizards came in a great quantity, but the mutations of the undead Vulture soldiers grew in size and easily attacked several of the lizards at once getting in the bulk of the lizard onslaught. The Vulture mutants no longer needed their rifles. They had enough brute strength and massive claws to swoop up the lizards and kill them. Liquid stood at his post only firing at the lizards who somehow managed to make it pass everyone else.

More of the living Vulture soldiers were taken out by the lizards only to come back as undead soldiers and continuing to fire at the massive onslaught of lizards. Mutating only when damaged. There was one live Vulture soldier left and he ran out of ammo soon after another wave of lizards were eliminated by the Vulture troops.
"This is bullshit! We need to retreat!"
He didn't want to die here. Not here.

The lizards kept coming even as more were taken out by the mutations, the undead soldiers, and the one living soldier left on the battlefield. The lizards didn't care if more of them died. They were out for blood and they wouldn't stop until they got their teeth and claws on flesh.

Liquid Snake "The battle is not yet loss. If you don't have the stomach for it you won't last much longer." Liquid wouldn't give the order to fall back just yet. They could still thin out the lizard numbers enough to make them an afterthought the next time they came to the sewers. They still had a mission to close off the sewers passageways from the Resistance and failure was not something the Crimson Vulture could afford. He would not give the order to retreat just yet.

The lone survivor of the squad tried to reload his rifle, but he was quickly taken by a lizard and stabbed by its razor sharp claws and his cells reanimated and he became an undead soldier with a chip in his brain making him continue to fight. He mutated and became an abomination and that was the last of the living Vulture soldiers in the sewers. They were all undead and mutated.
They would serve even in death.

More of the lizards were killed by the undead and mutated Vulture troops while more took their place. Trying to tear through the mutants and the undead soldiers left in the tunnel. It was a battle of brute strength against brute strength as the lizards would just not stop until they consumed everything left in the sewers.

Seeing that his squad were now mutated creatures taking more damage by the lizards in the sewers, Liquid grabbed his coat and turned his back on his former squad. Climbing up the ladder back to the surface knowing the lizards would not follow. He then activated the explosives his men placed in the Sector Six through Eight tunnels to collapse them and take out the remaining lizards in the tunnels. It wasn't all the tunnels like originally planned, but it would still leave the Resistance with fewer passages to take the next time they go on a mission. Liquid Snake "Farewell, Comrades."

The lizards had no idea what happened next. In the seconds to pass the tunnels collapsed and they were trapped. Then the explosions consumed their flesh and they all died in the massive explosion that shook three sectors worth of tunnels. Many of the lizards were dead under the debris and no more. Their lives which had little value left was gone...
The Vulture had won.
